Crime summary: 16-year-old without license charged after crashing granparents' car
The teen boy, who had a learner's permit, admitted to driving over 40 m.p.h. in an alley

A 16-year-old in Niles reportedly crashed his grandparents' car into an electrical transformer, according to Niles Herald-Spectator and the Niles Police. The boy had a learner's permit, but no license, when he drove down an alley in excess of 40 miles per hour around 7 p.m. on November 16. The teen has a January 3 court date.
Niles police received a report of a stolen American flag on the 6800 block of Milwaukee Avenue on November 14. Police also responded to a report of a man waving a flag and making obscene gestures at traffic near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Touhy Avenue.
Susie Bernadac, a 26-year-old Melrose Park woman, was charged with stealing $540 worth of cosmetics from a store on the 200 block of Golf Mill Center. She is due in court on December 12.
