Doctor shot, killed in Barrington Sunday

Police report the killing was domestic in nature public not in danger

Police in Barrington have called the shooting that killed a highly-regarded doctor a domestic incident.

A man who apparently has a 2 year old child with Dr.Duchon, of Vernon Hills is considered the prime suspect in the shooting that took the life of the highly regarded endocrinologist, who was shot & killed in a domestic incident in a Barrington townhome.

Dr. Olga Duchon, 42, had just spoken to a Ukrainian medical association in Wheeling Sunday afternoon before visiting the townhome in Barrington where the shooting occurred Sunday night.

Police reported that at approximately 5:40pm, calls were received about gunshots at the home in the 400-block of West Russell Street, Barrington.

Officers found that Duchon had been shot in the chest and she later died at a local hospital.

Officers also apparently removed a child from the home.

Neighbors said the man who lives there shared a 2-year-old daughter with the woman who was killed.
