Niles Referendum To Divide The Village Into Six Districts Fails
The tally this reporter was given by the Village Clerk was 7,324 NO votes, 3,649 YES votes

In a scoop for ChicagoAreaNews.com and it's top reporter, Steven M. Tobin, the Village of Niles is reporting that the referendum that was on the ballot which would split Niles into 6 districts, each with it's own Village Trustee, has failed.
The tally this reporter was given by the Village Clerk was 7,324 NO votes, 3,649 YES votes.
The message the Village Clerk stated the measure passed by a 70% margin, but with more NO than YES, she may have gotten herself confused on the voice mail, which I shall attempt to get 100% clear Friday.

So if the numbers were correctly given, then the measure surely failed by a 2:1 margin within the number of ballots cast on Election Day.
