NSSC Tuesday Club hosts author: ‘Up From Down Home, The Journey North”

Area residents invited to attend enlightening presentation and discussion with Jevoid Simmons, author and artist, on Tuesday, Dec. 12

North Shore Senior Center’s (NSSC) Tuesday Club will host Jevoid Simmons, author and artist, who will discuss how his paintings and carvings reflect warmth and tranquility in the presence of turbulent surroundings and events of the day.

He will also discuss his book, “Up From Down Home, The Journey North,” which tells the story of his family’s migration out of rural Alabama in the early 1950s. There is no charge to attend and community residents are invited to register in advance of the presentation on Tuesday, December 12 at 10 a.m. (social hour with coffee and continental breakfast, starts at 9 a.m.).

About the NSSSC Tuesday Club

The NSSC Tuesday Club offers free, weekly presentations on a variety of interesting topics, which are open to the public. It has grown into a multi-faceted informational and educational lecture series for men and women and a centerpiece of Tuesdays at NSSC.

Tuesday Club gatherings begin with the 9 a.m. Tuesday Club Warm Up, a pre-event social hour with coffee and continental breakfast. The Tuesday Club meeting begins at 10 a.m., with a presentation following at 10:30 a.m. These presentations are free and are open to all men and women in the community. Registration is required to attend.
