Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Injured Bicyclist In Niles
A white sedan struck a 67-year-old bicyclist in a crosswalk at Milwaukee and Dempster Wednesday evening, police said.

NILES, IL — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist Wednesday in Niles.
Shortly before 8 p.m., paramedics and police were called to the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Dempster Street for a report that a man on a bicycle had been hit by a car, according to Niles police.
Police said they found an injured 67-year-old man at the scene, but the driver who hit him fled.

According to the preliminary results of the police investigation, the bicyclist had been headed west in a crosswalk on Dempster Street.
The man was crossing from the east side of Milwaukee Avenue when the driver of a white sedan that had been headed the same direction on Dempster drove into him while turning right into the northbound lanes of Milwaukee.

The bicyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Niles Fire Department and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
