Northbrook Community Invited To Celebrate Techny Prairie Activity Center's 5th Birthday
TPAC is offering a month filled with special events, including an anniversary party open to the public on Jan. 10.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Techny Prairie Activity Center, the Northbrook Park District's state-of-the-art facility, opened its doors on Jan. 1, 2021. Located at 180 Anets Drive, the facility set to begin a month filled with special events, including an anniversary party open to the public on Jan. 10.
According to the district, the initiative is a way to thank members for helping make TPAC such a special place, as well as an opportunity to showcase the facility to the larger community.
"We know there are so many fitness facility options out there, and we strive every day to provide what is truly an amazing facility for the community in Northbrook," said Meri Shea, Northbrook Park District Superintendent of athletics and fitness. "All our staff members are professional and welcoming, from customer service to the great instructors that teach classes and all the certified personal trainers. TPAC is a fantastic place for anyone to meet their health and fitness goals, and we are excited to celebrate in January."

The facility features a 6,000-square-foot fitness floor with cardio, strength and functional fitness
equipment, two spacious studios that hold more than 50 group classes a week, an 8-lap-per-mile
elevated indoor walking track, and a 10,000-square-foot gymnasium with open times for basketball,
volleyball and pickleball.
TPAC was built as a Net Zero Energy building, with 833 solar panels on its roof that produce the energy needed to operate the facility, according to the district.

"5 Years of Fitness" events at TPAC open to nonmembers:
- $5 Fridays Pass — Jan. 2, Jan. 9, Jan. 16, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 Time: 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Daily pass reduced to $5. Includes access to open gym, walking track, group fitness classes and fitness floor (ages 15+)
- Free Unity Yoga Class — 12 to 1 p.m. Jan. 3. Free all-levels yoga class in honor of International Mind-Body Wellness Day (ages 13+)
- Free Walking Track Days — 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 7, Jan. 20, Jan. 25. Free access to elevated walking track (ages 11+)
- Free K-Pop WERQ Fitness Class — 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 9. A high-energy K-Pop WERQ cardio-dance workout with iconic choreography and non-stop good vibes inspired by the biggest K-Pop groups (ages 11+)
- 5-Year Anniversary Party — 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jan. 10. Free group fitness classes, fitness equipment demos and refreshments (ages 15+) plus games and activities in the gym (ages 3+)
- Free All-Level Bootcamp Class — 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Jan. 14. A fun, full-body workout that blends cardio, strength and functional movements, with plenty of modifications so you can go at your own pace (ages 13+)
