Oak Brook Sears to be downsized

The reduction in store size is expected to be complete by spring 2018

The department store, located in the Oakbook Center, is set to be reduced by half and lose its auto center, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Oakbrook store doesn’t actually belong to Sears, but it is one of a dozen stores leased through an agreement with Chicago-based mall operator General Growth Properties and Seritage Growth Properties.

Sears spokesman Howard Riefs said in an email that the reduced store would focus on appliances, household goods, and some apparel.
