Embattled Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard Gets A Mere 12% Of Votes
Trustee Jason House took 88 percent of the vote, while the soundly defeated Henyard is considering a run for higher office, reports said.
DOLTON, IL — Dolton voters dealt embattled Mayor Tiffany Henyard a decisive blow Tuesday when the village’s incumbent leader, mired in controversy, lost the Democratic primary race with just 12 percent of the vote to Trustee Jason House’s 88 percent, according to preliminary results.
“We faced four years of intimidation, four years of failure, and tonight is the new day for the village of Dolton,” said House, who will face independent Casundra Hopson-Jordan on April 1, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Today marks the end to a dark time for Dolton. If you want to pass the buck, pass that seat with it.”
Henyard has weathered a recall vote that yielded 56 percent support but was tossed by a state appellate court, a probe by ex-Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot that found excessive spending and lack of transparency, and a federal investigation into a controversial $200,000 contractor payment, the Times reported.

Henyard skipped her election night party but said to WGN that “the people have spoken” and “God must have a different plan,” telling the station she was considering running for higher office.
Key tenants of House’s campaign platform included ethics reform, financial transparency and commercial development, according to WGN.
