Oak Forest City Administrator Resigns After Four Years In Role

OAK FOREST, IL — Oak Forest City Administrator Tim Kristin has resigned after four years in the role, the City said Wednesday.

Oak Forest Mayor Hank Kuspa accepted Kristin's resignation last week, the City said.

"As city administrator, Kristin has been instrumental in shepherding several economic development projects, including One Fifty-Seven Oak Forest, Culver’s Restaurant, Aldi Food Market, and Captain Jack’s Beverages," the City's release reads. "In addition, Kristin has spurred the demolition of several vacant properties to prepare for sale, including Ace Hardware, Numero Uno, and Citgo. Most recently, Kristin announced the City would no longer charge daily fees at its commuter parking lots—another strategy to support economic development opportunities."

In addition, Kristin implemented an automated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) system, created policies and procedures to provide a roadmap for day-to-day operations, and also successfully negotiated several union contracts and insurance premiums. Prior to becoming city administrator, Kristin served in the police department, rising to the rank of deputy chief and ultimately police chief.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure continuity of services to residents and staff, Kristin will remain in the role until the position is filled or May 1, 2025, whichever comes first.

"It has been an honor to serve you and the people of Oak Forest," Kristin said in his resignation letter. "I am forever grateful to our employees, who work hard every day to offer the best possible service to our residents, local business owners, and visitors."
