Suspect In Custody After 59-Year-Old Man Found Dead In Chicago Ridge Apartment: Police

Chicago Ridge police called the homicide an "isolated, domestic-related event." Medical examiner said man died of injuries from an assault.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — A 59-year-old man was discovered dead early Tuesday morning in a Chicago Ridge apartment complex. A suspect is in custody, Chicago Ridge police said.

Just before 4:30 a.m., police were called to a residence at 10530 S. Austin Ave., for a report of an unresponsive person. When police and the Chicago Ridge Fire Department arrived, they found the man who was determined to be dead at the scene, despite efforts to resuscitate him.

A suspect has since been taken into custody. Based on the preliminary investigation, police determined it to be an isolated, domestic-related event. Chicago Ridge officers remained on the scene for several hours.

The man was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as Mohammad Qouqazeh. An autopsy report said Qouqazeh died from multiple injuries caused by an assault and determined it to be a homicide.

Detectives are actively pursuing all leads and continue to work closely with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office as the case moves forward. Charges are currently pending.
