Dates To Know For The 2025-2025 Oak Lawn Community High School Academic Year

OAK LAWN, IL — Where did the summer go? Students head back to Oak Lawn Community High School Dist. 229 this week.

Back-to-school planning has already begun in Dist. 229 for the 2025-2026 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.

Freshman and transfer students report for the first day of school Aug. 12, with all grades (9-12) reporting on Aug. 13. Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 229 calendar for late starts, early dismissals, exams, open houses, athletic and school events.

Here's a look at some dates to know for the 2025-2026 school year:

Aug. 12 - Freshmen/new student orientation, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Aug. 13 – All grades report, early dismissal 1:52 p.m.
Sept. 1 - Labor Day, off
Oct. 9 – Parent-Teacher Conferences, 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Oct. 10 – Teacher Institute, no student attendance
Oct. 13 – Indigenous People Day, no school
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day, no school
Nov. 26 to Nov. 28 – Thanksgiving break
Dec. 1 - Classes resume
Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 – Winter break
Jan. 5 - Teacher’s Institute, no student attendance
Jan. 6 – Classes resume
Jan. 19 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school
Feb. 16 – Presidents Day, off
March 2 - Casimir Pulaski Day, off
March 19 - Teacher Institute, no school
March 20 to March 27 – Spring break
April 1 - School resumes
