Boy Scout Troop 596 - Helping a local garden grow
Working hard to positively impact the community.
The Scouts of Troop 596 (Mt. Zion) helped install new table planters that will lead to increased production in the Share the Harvest garden, grown by New Generation C.O.G.I.C. and Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. The hard work exhibited by the Scouts recently will positively impact the community.
The beautiful, abundant greens and herbs that will be harvested from the table planters will be shared at local food pantries in the area and with local seniors. Thanks to the Troop, more neighbors who struggle with hunger will enjoy delicious, fresh produce, grown and harvested with love. The project also created more space for the garden to feature pollinator-friendly plants, which attract insects that help increase the garden’s productivity.
“The Scouts and adult leaders did an amazing job helping to upgrade the growing spaces in the garden for a new season! We are thankful for all they accomplished and for the impact it will have!” said Rev. Linda Wygant, board president of Grace Seeds Ministry and its Share the Harvest project.
