Make A Lantern With Your Family, Then Come Back For The Lantern Parade With Acorn To Oak

Kids are invited to Acorn to Oak Studios in Oak Lawn to paint a paper lantern Oct. 8, then march in a nighttime lantern parade Oct. 11.

OAK LAWN, IL — Enjoy the magic of an autumn evening in a whole new way by joining in Acorn to Oak Studios’ third annual lantern parade, sponsored by Complete Vision Care.

Children and their families will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to make their own unique lanterns, from 4 to 6 p.m., Oct. 8, at 9411 S. 51st Ave., Oak Lawn. Acorn to Oak will provide art supplies, but participants are welcome to bring their own. The cost is $15 per person. Acorn To Oak Studios has a lot of lanterns, so be sure to register today.

The lanterns will be left in the studio for drying and attaching the light and handles. Then, children and their families will start gathering at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at an area park (TBA), for an autumnal evening walk.

The parade will step off promptly at 7 p.m. This is a fun fall activity that is not spooky or scary for young kids, but highlights the beauty of fall in a family friendly walk. All ages are welcome.

The lantern parade is a fun and unique experience that is not scary or overstimulating for kids, and it is something the entire family, including grandparents, can enjoy together.
