Lake Shore Park Will Glow Friday For Oak Lawn Park District Light Stroll

The family event features hot chocolate, kids activities, festive lights and a special Christmas story Friday, Dec. 5, at Lake Shore Park.

OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Park District will be lighting up Lake Shore Park this Friday, Dec. 5. The second annual “Light Stroll” will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., at 9610 E. Lake Shore Drive.

The cost is $5 per child, families can stroll through the park to enjoy festive lights while reading the homemade Christmas story, “Duke Mallard’s Quacktastic Christmas Quest,” with a warm mug of hot chocolate.

The Little White Building and Dream Center, located on the edge of Lake Shore Park, will both be open for bathroom access and warming. Children can take a break from the cold by coloring Duke Mallard inspired pictures, writing their letters to Santa, and taking photos with Duke Mallard himself, along with a few surprise guests.

The “Light Stroll” also features specially decorated trees from local businesses displayed along the lit-up path. Tree sponsorships are available for $250.

“We are always looking to provide families with fun, cost effective opportunities to spend time together, Oak Lawn Parks executive director Tom Hartwig said. “This event is perfect for that. Lake Shore Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Oak Lawn, and we are thrilled to showcase it each year, especially as we prepare for exciting renovations to this park for the community next year.”
