Memory Care Residents, Staff Walk to Stomp Out Breast Cancer
Seniors and Staff at Grace Point Place, an Anthem Memory Care community, raised money during a mini walk to fight breast cancer.
Seniors with dementia helped stomp out breast cancer when they took part in a breast cancer walk at Grace Point Place, an Anthem Memory Care community located at 5701 W. 101st St., Oak Lawn.
Grace Point Place raised over $400 selling t-shirts to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The walk was designed to connect residents and staff through shared personal journeys and advocacy while boosting morale and promoting physical well-being.
“Many of our residents have attended Breast Cancer walks in the past, so they were thrilled to have their own walk in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month., said Christopher Mitchell, life engagement director for Grace Point Place. “It’s important for them to participate in activities that bring them joy. Seeing them encourage each other and the staff to keep walking was the most rewarding part of the whole walk.”
