Oak Lawn Student Council Members Earn Inclusive Youth Leadership Certificate
Four local students were recognized by the Special Olympics Illinois and the Illinois High School Association.
Four Oak Lawn Community High School Student Council members, Arielle Crawford, Francisco Gomez, Nadeen Halim, and Laya Adnan Jimil Nasan, earned the Inclusive Youth Leadership Certificate from the Special Olympics Illinois and the Illinois High School Association.
In 2020, these two powerful groups joined to create the certification. With instruction from peer youth leaders, students completed an individually-paced course covering a variety of topics including Cognitive Flexibility, Effective Communication, Goal Setting, and Connecting with Others.

Laya Nasan, junior, said the course was a great experience. "We learned how to interact with others, especially during Coronavirus... how to stay connected while social distancing."
Students earned a pin and certificate.
