OLCHS Plans Disney-Themed 'Happiest Homecoming On Earth'
Oak Lawn Community High School celebrates homecoming week with a parade and pep rally Oct. 1, followed by the game Oct. 3 and dance Oct. 4.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School’s student council is putting the finishing touches on its Disney-themed “Happiest Homecoming On Earth.” Homecoming week takes place from Sept. 26 to Oct. 4, including Friday’s football game and the big dance on Saturday.
Spartan fever is catching on all over the village with the football team’s so-far undefeated record, so this year’s homecoming is feeling more electrifying than usual. If you see Oak Lawn students walking around the streets in their pajamas or dressed like Dalmatians, it’s just part of OLCHS Spirit Week’s special Disney-themed days.

The Spartan homecoming parade, pep rally and fireworks are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1. The parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. from 88th Street and Austin Avenue, proceeding south down Austin Avenue to Napleton Field. The pep rally follows immediately at 7 p.m. on the football field. The homecoming court and all the fall teams will be introduced. The evening will end with a fireworks display.
The 5-0 Oak Lawn Spartans face off against the 3-2 Evergreen Park Mustangs at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Napleton Field.

The ‘Happiest Homecoming On Earth” theme continues at the homecoming dance, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Oak Lawn Community High School, 9400 Southwest Highway.
Homecoming is a tradition celebrated by educational institutions to welcome back former students and inspire school spirit among current students. The homecoming tradition is primarily carried out by high schools and colleges and involves events such as parades, pep rallies, tailgates, bonfires, and dances.
