Bridgeview And Chicago Ridge Cops Partner In 'Fatal Four' Traffic Safety Initiative
Chicago Ridge and Bridgeview announce traffic safety initiative on Harlem Avenue through Oct. 31 in response to last month's fatal crash.
CHICAGO RIDGE/BRIDGEVIEW, IL — In response to last month’s crash at the intersection of 99th Street and Harlem Avenue where a 22-year-old Oak Lawn man died, the Chicago Ridge and Bridgeview police departments will be conducting a coordinated traffic safety initiative throughout the month of October.
Officers from both towns will be patrolling a 2-mile stretch of Harlem Avenue to combat the “Fatal 4” traffic violations – speeding, seatbelt use, distracted driving and impaired driving. The Fatal 4 has been statistically shown to be the leading causes of injuries or death in vehicle crashes.

“We are working with Bridgeview police to address an over two-mile stretch of Harlem,” said Chief Jim Jarolimek, of the Chicago Ridge Police Department.
Which two-mile strip will be a surprise. Motorists are asked by law enforcement to be vigilant in avoiding these violations so that police can increase safety on the Harlem Avenue roadway.
