DUI Patrols Coming to Austin Neighborhood This Weekend
Police will be looking for impaired and unbuckled drivers.

Austin, Chicago, IL - The Chicago Police Department will conduct a DUI Strike Force Patrol this weekend in the Austin (15th) District.
The DUI Strike Force Patrol will take place from 7 p.m. Dec. 12 to 3 a.m. Dec. 13, according to Office of News Affairs.
The program is designed to fill an area with roving police officers to watch traffic for signs of impaired drivers. Police will also watch for speeding and seat belt violations.

The Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit may also be used to help police speed up the process of charging a person with driving under the influence before they’re taken to lockup for bonding, according to news affairs. The mobile unit also allows for Individual Recognizance Bonds (I-Bonds) to be issued at the patrol site.
A DUI Strike Force Patrol that took place on Dec. 4 and 5 in the Jefferson Park (16th) District resulted in 46 total citations, including:

- 6 DUIs
- 11 driver’s license violations
- 10 unsafe vehicle violations
- 11 insurance violations
- 8 other traffic violations
Seven cars were towed.
