  1. The Oak Park Police Department will be applying for three federal grants through the U.S. Department of Justice. The development grants will fund crisis intervention training, de-escalation training, and a pilot project for officer recruitment and retention. Should the grant be awarded, the DOJ will provide the department with up to $250,000 for two years. (Wednesday Journal)
  2. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will host workshops for residents to provide public comments on upcoming Chicago O'Hare International Airport terminal revisions. Community members in and around the airport are invited to join an in-person public workshop on Jul. 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Monty's Elegant Banquets, or a virtual workshop via Zoom on Jul. 14 at 6:00 p.m. Visit the FAA website for more information on the O'Hare projects and upcoming workshops.   3. Yesterday, Cook County leaders received hands-on training during a "Stop the Bleed" event. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, county commissioners, local community leaders, and the Cook County Health trauma team were all in attendance. During the event, attendees received training on how to stop bleeding and potentially save someone's life while awaiting first responders. (WGN TV Chicago)
