First Presbyterian Church Of River Forest Announces Christmas Concert

he First Presbyterian Church of River Forest today announced its 2022 Christmas concert, Shalom: The Peace, Joy, and Wonder of Jesus’ Birth. The concert will be held on Sunday, December 18 at 4:00 pm at the church, located at 7551 Quick Avenue in River Forest. Tickets are not required; a freewill offering will be taken.

“Each year, First Pres is proud to provide this musical gift to the community,” said Paul Detterman, senior pastor at First Pres. “From Calypso to Vivaldi, there will be something for everyone, complete with singing of your favorite Christmas carols. This year’s concert is called “Shalom” as it is the word that best describes the completeness of God’s love, peace, and joy; those things that are at the core of the celebration of Jesus’ birth.”

The music selected for this concert illustrates different elements of God’s shalom. Under the direction of Dr. M. Jane Holstein, director of music ministries at First Pres, the concert will feature the First Pres Chancel Choir, Chamber Orchestra with special guest artists Kaia String Quartet (kaiastringquartet.com).
