Lincoln Elementary Named 2015 National Blue Ribbon School

The Lincoln School will be represented at a recognition ceremony in Washington D.C.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced Tuesday morning that 335 schools nationwide earned this distinction.

The award is based on overall academic excellence or on the school’s progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Superintendent Ed Condon said in an emailed statement to District 90 families that Lincoln Principal Casey Godfrey and second grade teacher Pam Moriarty will represent the school and the district at the Nov. 9 and 10 recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C.

This National Blue Ribbon recognition reaffirms the commitment and enthusiastic scholarship exhibited by the Lincoln faculty, staff, students, families, volunteers, as well as entire the River Forest community. Working in dedicated collaboration, the Lincoln community creates a safe and nurturing school environment where students master challenging content and develop the social emotional skills of resilience and empathy. The award is also fitting recognition of the leadership and tireless efforts of Lincoln’s former principal, Pam Hyde, who retired earlier this year.
