1. Residents of Oak View Tower are still “scrambling” to find housing after their apartment complex was deemed unsafe. The Wednesday evacuation was required after the village said the building is an “imminent danger of failure or collapse.” (ABC7)

2. Heather Mack’s lawyers waived her right to a detention hearing yesterday. The Oak Park native was deported from Indonesia last week and arrested at O’Hare. She will be held in custody while federal changes are pending, including conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and obstruction of justice. (Paid source: Tribune)

3. Oak Park police are investigating a weekend shooting on South Maple Street. A witness saw two drivers on Lexington Street shooting at each other from their vehicles late Sunday. No injuries were reported. (Wednesday Journal)

4. A new law will regulate short-term rentals like Airbnb and VRBO in Oak Park. Anyone engaging in short-term rentals will pay a fee and be subject to inspection. (Paid source: Oak Leaves)

Following resident complaints about cut-through traffic in River Forest, the village will conduct a traffic study in “the area bounded by North Avenue, Harlem Avenue, Greenfield Street and Lathrop Avenue.” Concerns include speed, stop signs and an overwhelming amount of truck traffic.
