Rep. Lilly Visits Local Senior Club in River Grove

River Grove, IL - State Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Chicago, visited the River Grove Senior Club on Monday to discuss ongoing budget negotiations and legislative goals for 2016, as well as receive feedback on her role as a legislator.

“Local organizations like these remind me of the strong neighborhood connections that exist in order to maintain their community’s involvement and history,” said Lilly.

“While I represent them in Springfield, local groups act as one more entity to symbolize local voices for great causes.”

Lilly spoke at a local community organization in River Grove, the Senior’s Club, to listen to resident’s input on the challenges facing the state and municipalities, while also updating them on the progress made over the last year. A large part of the talk regarded taxation and spending policies in the state, as well as her petition to oppose a tax on retirement income.

“Civic groups are meant to keep neighborhoods and people together during all times, as well as have one voice that echoes that of the community,” Lilly said. “While our work in Springfield continues, I want to ensure that I will never stop working until our community gets the resources needed to continue moving forward.”
