Lilly spoke with board members and the executive director of the Nineteenth Charitable Association about ways the organization operates in the community and how it is looking to grow its influence for neighboring areas. Originally founded in 1891 as a woman’s organization, the Oak Park non-profit has since become a community group that seeks to preserve the city’s earlier history while also supporting local non-profit organizations gain influence in their localities.
“Touring and visiting more non-profit groups serves to remind me that a responsible budget is my top priority in Springfield, and that we need to help our groups and agencies who provide critical services for our communities,” said Lilly. “It’s my sincere hope that these agencies and organizations won’t have to wait too much longer to receive the aid they require and shut out those they serve.”
