Fox Valley Festival Chorus Concerts to Feature Internationally Acclaimed Soprano Soloist 
Chorus will perform John Rutter’s Requiem

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is pleased to announce that the upcoming April concerts of John Rutter’s Requiem will feature the talents of the celebrated Polish-born soprano Brygida Bziukiewicz-Kulig.

In addition to performing in opera houses all over the world including Italy, Poland, Austria, Turkey and Egypt, Ms. Bziukiewicz-Kulig has performed leading roles In the United States with the Milwaukee Opera, the Grant Park Music Festival, and the Lincoln Opera and many others.

She has performed solo recitals for European and American television and radio and made her Orchestra Hall, Chicago debut in 1996 accompanied on piano by Daniel Barenboim. She also was Miss Poland and ultimately 3rd runner up in the Miss Universe Pageant in 1986.

Currently a faculty member in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Ms. Bziukiewicz-Kulig runs her own opera company La Musica Lirica in Italy during the summer.

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus, under the direction of Naperville resident, Mary Beth McCarthy will be performing Requiem by John Rutter, one of Great Britain’s most famous composers. The Requiem is based on several Biblical passages and the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass. Rutter is well known for his choral compositions, including “This is the Day,” which was commissioned for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Many members of the Chorus will also be performing Requiem on Memorial Day at Carnegie Hall in New York City, under the direction of John Rutter himself.

Two area performances are scheduled: on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 4:00 pm, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 5 West Washington Street, in Oswego, and on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 3:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Edgelawn, in Aurora. A reception will follow each performance.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and senior citizens and $5 for children age 12 and under. Tickets will be available from Chorus members and at the door. Additional information is available at www.foxvalleyfc.org and fromfoxvalleyfc@gmail.com.
