Girl, 12, Brought Unloaded Handgun To Plank Junior High: Oswego Police
The student was charged with one felony and two misdemeanors after bringing an unloaded firearm to school, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — Plank Junior High School was put on a brief lockdown Tuesday afternoon after it was reported a student, 12, brought an unloaded gun to school, Oswego police said.
Officers were notified by school staff around 1:13 p.m. that a student was seen with a firearm. The school, at 510 Secretariat Lane, was placed on an hour-long hold-in-place lockdown while police responded and confiscated the gun, according to a news release.
The girl was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct, one misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a weapon, and one misdemeanor count of unauthorized storage/possession of a weapon.

She was brought to the Oswego Police Department for processing and then to the Kendall County Juvenile Justice Center to await a hearing.
“The Oswego Police Department would like to thank the students who reported it and came forward to say something,” officials wrote in a news release. “Oswego Police take all reports of student safety seriously and are dedicated to ensuring they are handled swiftly and appropriately.”
