Kendall Co. Sheriff's Office Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

The employee's work station was immediately isolated and has gone through deep cleaning and sanitization.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A contracted employee of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday. According to a release from the sheriff, the office is currently working with the Kendall County Health Department and Advanced Correctional Healthcare to ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to keep the employees and inmates safe.

"The exposure is considered to be low risk do to the procedures and protocols that are in place per the current CDC guidelines," the release stated. "All work stations are cleaned and sanitized three times a day, all staff and visitors entering the secure confines of the jail are required to wear masks at all times, to keep the facility and inmates safe and protected."

The contracted employee's work station was immediately isolated and has gone through deep cleaning and sanitization. The employee is under a doctor's care and will be self-quarantining for the 14 days as recommended.

The Sheriff’s Office staff and all others entering the jail have been mandated to use personal protective equipment while in the jail since April 1, and all work stations are cleaned and sanitized three times a day. All new inmates have been in a 14-day quarantine prior to being admitted into the general population.

"We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines and the Kendall County Health Department guidelines in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy jail environment", Sheriff Dwight Baird said.
