Letter to the Editor: Candidates running for Park Board 'Throwing Out Misinformation'
Send your letter to the editor to steven.jack@patch.com

If you have ever been bullied in your life and wanted to fight back, here is your
chance.
We have a few people running in the April election for the Oswegoland Park
District that seem to have no reservations about throwing out misinformation, giving false statements and threatening good hard working citizens with their very livelihoods.
It is one thing to run for an election, but they have gone too far! They are attacking the people who work in and for your community. They have threatened to “take over” OPD and when they do certain people will lose their jobs.

The employees of OPD are not your enemy. They are your neighbors, they are moms and dads, they are kids needing a summer job and they are struggling to make a living just like the rest of us and I will add, not making the kind of money Mr. Wass suggests.
When you use real math it averages out to $2,675 for seasonal help, $6,459 for part
time. Not even close to the $47,500 that has been thrown out by these irresponsible
candidates. If they can misrepresent this figure so absurdly you can imagine how
distorted the rest of their figures are!

Most importantly, the job of OPD employees, involves giving back and serving the community to make it a better place to live in. They are responsible for the quality of life in our community and the employees at OPD are excellent at their job.
What has Mr. Wass ever given back to the community on a local level with local
community involvement? Has he ever been involved in a Park District function? Has he ever been to a Park District board meeting to see what we are really all about or to find out how we really work?
In the eight years I have been on the board I know of only once or twice that he made a short appearance. And that leads us to his real agenda. It is all about Adams Street. He was there to deliver his list of “demands”, not requests, not questions but “demands” which included selling back part of Hudson Park and even building houses on that land. Is this fiscal responsibility?
After spewing out his demands, he immediately left the meeting. Mr. Wass lives on Adams Street and is angry that there is a park in his neighborhood. That is what he is really all about.
If you want real facts and figures just call me, 630-554-9433 or any of the commissioners and we can show you the true facts and figures.
In the past 10 years, your tax rate has gone down 32 percent from .5715 to .3876. This rate is lower than Batavia, Fox Valley, St. Charles and many other nearby districts.
Please call us and get the real facts. More importantly get out and vote. This is your chance to fight back and stop these people who breed fear and mistrust.
As a community that works together we can stop this malicious outrage and vote for people who want only the best for the whole community, who want quality over fear, who want a positive attitude over hate, who want truth over lies. But you must vote, because each vote does count.
Support Bob Mattingly, Mark Slover and Michael Satlak. We have a wonderful community and a dedicated park district, let’s keep it that way!
