Man Charged with Arson in Feb. 8 Dolores Street Fire

Nicholas Wolgast is being held on $500,000 bond.

Nicholas Wolgast, 20, who had been living at the Dolores Street home of his girlfriend early last month, was charged with felony aggravated arson and residential arson after allegedly setting fire to the home at about 10 p.m. Feb. 8, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's office news release.

According to the release, Wolgast was arguing with his girlfriend and her mother when he brought a full can of gasoline into the house and began pouring it about the home. The argument continued, and as the mother tried to clean up the gasoline, Wolgast allegedly set fire to the home in unincorporated Kendall County near Oswego.

Wolgast's clothing also caught fire, and he ran from the burning house, the release said.

The homeowner called 911, and Wolgast was stopped by Kendall County Sheriff's deputies a few blocks away.  He was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center and later transferred to Loyola Medical Center for treatment of his burns, the release said.

On Monday, a warrant was issued for Wolgast's arrest, and he was found Tuesday at a home on Lebanon Street in Aurora. He is being held in the Kendall County Jail with $500,000 bond.
