Men Wield Knife In Liquor Store Robbery: Oswego Police

It's the second armed robbery this week in Oswego. Detectives don't believe the incidents to be related, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — Two men wearing ski masks and wielding a knife robbed George's Liquor and Wine Tuesday night, the second armed robbery to occur this week, Oswego police said.

The men entered the store, located at 1154 Douglas Road, through the south entrance, produced a knife and proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of currency and liquor, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the store around 10:31 p.m., after the robbery occurred. The store's surveillance footage captured the incident, according to a news release.

After learning the suspects fled and were last seen headed southeast, police searched the area with a K-9 and drones without success. Officers also canvassed the area Tuesday night and again Wednesday.

Police described the suspects as Black men, about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, and with thin builds. Both were wearing black jackets, black pants, black ski masks and blue rubber gloves. One man was wearing tan boots and the other wore white shoes, according to the release.

The first armed robbery this week took place Monday night at O'Reilly Auto Parts on Route 71. A man walked into the store, displayed a gun and stole money, Patch reported.

Detectives don't believe the two incidents are related, spokesperson Cathy Nevara said.

As both investigations remain ongoing, police are asking anyone with tips on either incident to contact the department at 630-551-7300.

Information can be shared anonymously with Kendall Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999. Tips leading to arrests could result in a cash reward of up to $1,000.
