New Coronavirus Death Reported In Kendall County After A Month
There are currently 1,309 reported cases with 872 in recovery, as per public health data.
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — County health officials reported a new coronavirus-induced death on Thursday, bringing the total death toll to 24. According to a release from the Kendall County Health Department, the deceased is a female in her 50s "that suffered from additional health complexities."
There are currently 1,309 reported cases with 872 in recovery, as per public health data. The last death — of a male in his 30s — was reported on June 26.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health website, among the three long-term care facilities in Kendall County, Symphony at the Tillers of Oswego currently has the highest number of cases at 50 and nine deaths.

As per data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, only one percent of Kendall County's population have tested positive for the coronavirus and 0.018 percent have died because of it. However, earlier this week, less than one percent had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
The state is headed in the wrong direction, Illinois public health director Ngozi Ezike made clear this week, asking Illinoisans to make small sacrifices now to avoid large ones later.

State health officials on Thursday announced 1,772 new cases of the coronavirus — the most since May 24 — and 18 additional deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus. The statewide total now stands at 176,896 confirmed infections and 7,478 known deaths. Another 1,242 probable cases and 192 probable deaths are not included in the official totals.
In the past 24 hours, labs in Illinois have processed 41,134 coronavirus tests, for a total of more than 2.6 million since the pandemic began. The state's rolling, seven-day positivity rate is 3.8 percent — four-tenths of a percentage point higher than last week and 1.4 percentage points higher than last month.
Based on the latest predictions by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 160,000 to 175,000 Americans could be dead from the disease by Aug. 15.
