Oswego Christmas Walk: What To Expect Of 2023 Event

The Silent Light Parade, featuring decorated cars and trucks and characters, will once again make its way down Main Street.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego will kick off the holiday season in just a month with its annual Christmas Walk.

The free family-favorite event will take to the streets of downtown Oswego between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 1, with the tree-lighting ceremony set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Main and Jackson streets.

Featured activities include performances by local choirs and dance troupes, visits with Santa's reindeer, live ice sculpting and an inflatable sled hill. With Santa making an appearance, children are encouraged to bring their wish list and visit Kris Kringle at his North Pole home away from home.

As in years past, the Silent Light Parade will make its way down Main Street, with lit-up emergency vehicles, decorated trucks and cars, and characters taking part in the procession.

Downtown stores will be open during the event, giving visitors the chance to enjoy their holiday decor and browse gift ideas.

The holiday events won't end with the Christmas Walk. The Downtown Cookie Walk will take place the following day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tins, which are required to participate, will go on sale Nov. 22, and on the day of, participants will walk around downtown Oswego to collect cookies from local businesses.

Officials have not yet released a list of establishments participating in the cookie walk.
