OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego man was found guilty of committing "multiple horrific sexual acts" against three children who were all family members, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said.

Brian Hulsey, 51, was convicted of six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse following a three-day trial last week. He was immediately taken into custody to await sentencing in May.

Prior to his trial, Hulsey, of 421 Sundbury Circle, was on electronic home monitoring.

Charges were filed against the Oswego man after an investigation began in August 2021, when three victims told law enforcement investigators that Hulsey had sexually assaulted each of them starting as early as 2018 when one of the victims was 7 years old.

Each of the victims was under 13 when the assaults occurred, Weis said.

The victims each shared their stories at the Kendall County Child Advocacy Center, and under Illinois law, two interviews were played at the trial as evidence against Hulsey. The three victims also all took the stand to describe the sexual assault that Hulsey committed in the Oswego residence.

"Weis stated that the courage of these children to come forward, face their abuser in open court and testify about these horrific acts of sexual assault and abuse allowed for justice to be served for all three victims," the news release reads. "Weis noted that each victim and several members of the victim's family were overcome with emotion when the verdicts were read in open court. Hulsey showed no emotion."

The case was prosecuted by Weis and Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Cusack. Hulsey was represented by the Kendall County Public Defender's Office.

Hulsey must be sentenced to natural life in prison without the possibility of early release due to his conviction of predatory criminal sexual assault of two separate minors, according to the release.

"Based on these horrific acts, the defendant deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison," Weis said.
