Oswego Village Administrator Takes New Job in Ohio
Gary Adams said he'd been told his contract would not be renewed.

Gary Adams, Oswego's village administrator since 2005, will leave his post June 3 as he takes the city manager job in Huber Heights, Ohio.
Adams, 63, who gave his official notice Tuesday morning, said it was made clear to him in recent months that his five-year contract with the village would not be renewed.
"I've been looking around for a while," Adams said. "I felt like I had no intention of retiring and it was in the best interest of my family that I find another job."

Village President Brian LeClercq declined to discuss Adams' contract, saying instead he wishes him well.
"I certainly wish him and his family all the best in his new pursuit," LeClercq said.

Adams said he's come to love the community, and sad that he has to leave.
"I've never left a place on bad terms," he said. "I don't want to leave here on a negative note. There's plenty of negativity here right now, and I don't want to be a part of that."
Adams described Huber Heights as a town of about 40,000 residents just outside of Dayton. It is at the intersections of Interstates 70 and 75 and is within a 10-minute drive of Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
"This is a great opportunity," Adams said. "Economic development is the lifeblood of any community and they're really focused on that there now."
LeClercq said an interim administrator may step in while a search for a long-term replacement is conducted. He also said he plans to get the full involvement of the Village Board in the selection process.
