You Said It: How Did Our Facebook Friends React to the News of bin Laden's Assassination?

More than a dozen of readers reached out late last night with their own opinions on the big news.

As news broke Sunday night of the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, most of us with a computer and a Facebook account turned to the social media giant to discuss our feelings. Here's an unedited look at what some of Oswego Patch's Facebook friends had to say in the hours after the announcement.

Donna Daley Trybek One word Finally!

Steve Aldrich Justice served and personally delivered!! Blessings to those directly engaged; let us all remember to solemnly honor this day and all those who've sacrificed on 9-11, over the years since and those yet to come.

Laurie Patsch My thought is relief.  My feelings are pride. Our son fought in Iraq for 15 months that ended in late 2008. He is home now and came in to the family and gave us the word and it all seemed fitting that he would be the one to inform us.  My feelings are pride that our son served his time in this fight.  May God bless and keep watch over our men and women serving our country during this time to keep us safe.

Melissa Simmons Progress, glad most of our troops will return home soon, hope none of his followers step up to take his place, hope our intelligence agencies keep one step ahead

A'Lissa Kuecker Thank you to our TROOPS!! We should be so grateful to those who risk their lives for us daily. President Obama - WAY too much "I", "Me" and "My" in your address to the nation.

Andrea Custer Jones I am excited about the news but am nervous and scared about the backlash from the sleeper cells.

Becky Palmer Awesome news!!! But who's gonna be the next crazy mofo to wreak havoc on the world?

Donna Thill I am proud, as always, of my president and our troops' tireless efforts.

Patty Drake- O'Malley It's about damn time!

Caroline Adelmann Progress but will we ever truly be done with this?

Jim Lausier Mission accomplished (exactly eight years to the day after President Bush said it was.)

Cynthia Fennessy Clark Finally, our military and intelligence agencies did an awesome job.
