Amazon Web Services Training Comes to the Southwest Suburbs
The only community college in Illinois to partner with Amazon and host eight Amazon Web Services specialized training courses.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a wide-ranging cloud platform with over 175 services from data centers around the globe. With millions of customers, AWS is one of the most common cloud platforms with customers ranging from quick-growing startups to large enterprise businesses. Moraine Valley Community College is the only community college in Illinois to partner with Amazon and host Amazon Web Services specialized training courses. The eight new training courses are 3 to 4 days long and best suited for those either seeking an entry-level position or looking to advance their careers within Information Technology. Different courses are offered each month throughout 2020.

Architecting on AWS
Understand the fundamentals of building an IT infrastructure on the AWS platform. Students learn how to optimize the AWS Cloud, best practices, design patterns for architecting optimal IT solutions on AWS, and building fledgling architectures into robust and adaptive solutions.

This course also includes one day of AWS Technical Essentials where you will learn about AWS products, services, common solutions, and the fundamentals of identifying AWS services.
Advanced Architecting on AWS
Build on concepts introduced in Architecting on AWS. Build complex solutions that incorporate data services, governance, and security on the AWS platform. Learn about specialized AWS services, including AWS Direct Connect and AWS Storage Gateway, that support hybrid architecture, and best practices for building scalable, elastic, secure, and highly available applications on AWS.
Developing on AWS
Learn how to use the AWS SDK to develop secure and scalable cloud applications. This course explores how to interact with AWS using code and discuss key concepts, best practices, and troubleshooting tips.
This course also includes one day of AWS Technical Essentials where you will learn about AWS products, services, common solutions, and the fundamentals of identifying AWS services.
DevOps Engineering on AWS
Learn the most common DevOps patterns to develop, deploy, and maintain applications on the AWS platform. Students explore core principles of the DevOps methodology and examine a number of use cases applicable to startup, small to medium sized business, and enterprise development scenarios.
Systems Operations on AWS
Learn how to create automatable and repeatable deployments of networks and systems on the AWS platform. Students explore the AWS features and tools related to, and best practices for, configuration and deployment.
Security Operations on AWS
Understand how to efficiently use AWS security services to stay secure and compliant. The course focuses on the AWS recommended security best practices that can be implemented to enhance the security of data and systems in the cloud. This is a specialty course suited for individuals who are responsible for governing, auditing, and testing an organization's IT infrastructure.
This course also includes one day of AWS Technical Essentials where you will learn about AWS products, services, common solutions, and the fundamentals of identifying AWS services.
Big Data on AWS
Learn best practices about cloud based Big Data solutions on all of AWS Big Data platforms. Students learn how to use Amazon EMR to process data using the broad ecosystem of Hadoop tools like Hive and Hue and how to create Big Data environments working with Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, Amazon QuickSight, Amazon Athena, and Amazon Kinesis.
This course also includes one day of AWS Technical Essentials where you will learn about AWS products, services, common solutions, and the fundamentals of identifying AWS services.
Data Warehousing on AWS
Learn concepts, strategies, and best practices for designing a cloud-based data warehousing solution using Amazon Redshift, the petabyte scale data warehouse in AWS. Understand how to collect, store, prepare and analyze data for the data warehouse using other AWS services (Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon EMR, Amazon Kinesis Firehose, and Amazon Simple Storage Service).
This course also includes one day of AWS Technical Essentials where you will learn about AWS products, services, common solutions, and the fundamentals of identifying AWS services.
