Mercedes-Benz Driver Sought In Child Luring Attempt At Palos Bus Stop

A white male driving a Mercedes-Benz tried to a wave a child waiting at a school bus stop in Palos Heights over to his car, police said.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Police in Palos Heights and Palos Park in conjunction with Cook County Sheriff’s Police after a child luring attempt in Palos Heights was reported Wednesday morning.

The child was waiting for the bus near 127th Street and 81st Court in unincorporated Palos Heights. The sheriff’s police immediately apprised police in both of the situation.

Chief Bill Czajkowski, of the Palos Heights Police Department, told Patch that a black Mercedes-Benz van waved the child over to the van. The sole occupant of the van was described as a 45-year-old white male.

After school on Wednesday, there was a a heavy police presence at Palos East Elementary School in Palos Heights. To ensure the safety of all children in the area, there will be an extra police presence for the foreseeable future at the bus stops and the schools.

If you see or hear anything suspicious, please do not hesitate to call 911 and the respective police department will respond to the area. Residents are also asked to check their home security video for a suspicious vehicle before school on Wednesday morning.
