Palos Man Charged With Attempted Murder After 2 Elderly People Found Stabbed In Home: Cops

Cook County Sheriff's Police found two elderly people with multiple stab wounds inside a home in unincorporated Palos Township.

PALOS, IL — A 34-year-old Palos Park man is accused of stabbing two people. Matthew Sokolowski was ordered detained last month in Cook County Jail after being charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Around 9 a.m. on Nov. 24, Cook County Sheriff’s Police responded to the 12000 block of South Newport Drive in unincorporated Palos Township. Officers found a 72-year-old woman and 77-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Both were taken to an area hospital.

Public records show two other people who match the ages as sharing the same address as Sokolowski.

Sokolowski was taken into custody at the scene. He was transported to Northwestern Palos Hospital for a hand injury, police said.

He was ordered to be held at Cook County Jail following his pre-detention hearing Nov. 26.

Sokolowski’s next hearing is Dec. 19 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
