29 D202 Students Selected To Sing In Regional Honor Choirs

This year saw a 20 percent increase in applications, making selection even more challenging, district officials said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Twenty-nine students from Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 were selected to perform in regional honor choirs this winter.

The students will perform in the American Choral Directors Association Midwestern Region Honor Choir, held Feb. 25-28 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Midwestern Region Honor Choir gives students a unique opportunity to work with renowned conductors, perform complex six-piece repertoires and sing original compositions.

The Plainfield singers were selected to participate in the program following a highly competitive audition process that included applicants from 10 states in the Midwest. This year saw a 20 percent increase in applications, making selection even more challenging, district officials said.

"We are incredibly proud of our middle and high school students for their dedication and musical excellence," Karen Blair, Ira Jones Middle School choir director, said in a statement. "Being chosen for this honor is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects their hard work and passion for music."
