PLAINFIELD, IL — Three men were taken into custody Sunday afternoon after they battered a woman, with one telling her he was "going to kill her," Plainfield police said.

When officers first arrived at the residence, they met with the victim, who said she had been hit by two family members during a verbal argument. She said that while speaking to Mohammad, a dispute escalated, and he struck her in the face and chest. Khaled then stepped between the two and hit the woman, according to Cmdr. Anthony Novak.

The two men then pinned the woman to the ground, which led to scratches on her hand, Novak said.

The victim was "subsequently removed from the residence," and she called 911. When officers spoke to Mohammad, police say he denied any argument or physical altercation, and Khaled provided an inconsistent account of the incident. While police investigated, Mamoun began yelling at the victim, telling her he was "going to kill her," according to Novak.

Police said after a brief struggle, Mamoun was placed under arrest. Mohammad and Khaled were taken into custody based on the victim's statements, observed injuries and conflicting information they provided.

Following booking procedures at the Plainfield police headquarters, all three were taken to the Will County jail. As of Monday afternoon, they remain in custody pending court appearances scheduled for Tuesday.

While Plainfield police officers responded to the domestic battery incident Sunday afternoon, the department requested backup from the Will County Sheriff's Office for an incident of a man barricading himself with a gun in the 25400 block of Springview Court. Earlier that day, he crashed a car occupied by three children, Patch reported.
