Hawk Auto Dealership Gets Reapproved After IDOT Delay
The new and used car dealership is moving its Volkswagen and Cadillac businesses from Joliet to Plainfield.

PLAINFIELD, IL — After delays from the Illinois Department of Transportation, the new Hawk Auto car dealership in Plainfield will move forward.
The Village Board unanimously reapproved the dealership's final plat at the regular meeting on March 17, a year after the Plainfield officials first green-lit the proposal to construct a new dealership on a vacant, 89-acre parcel at 16761 Route 59, just north of Rolf Road and the Plainsman Terrace subdivision.
Village documents indicate Hawk Auto did not record the final plat within six months of approval, as required by village ordinances, due to IDOT.

"Review from IDOT takes multiple months and prevented the applicant from recording in time," the documents state.
The Village Board extended the plat once before, on Sept. 16, 2024.
