Jewel, Mariano's, More: Illinois Christmas Grocery Store Hours

ILLINOIS — Christmas is nearly here. The presents are wrapped, lights are twinkling and holiday cards are in the mail. Everything is set. Then you remember — Nanny developed a mysterious gluten allergy in her later years. Holiday rolls are off the table and, more importantly, so are your Christmas cookies.

You need to whip up a gluten free dessert quickly. But it’s Christmas! Who could possibly be open in Illinois? Fear not. We’ve been there, too. That’s why Patch reached out to major grocery chains nationwide, including Walmart, Target, Jewel and Mariano's, to find out where you can go and when.

Below is a list of grocery stores that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Many have varying hours, so always remember to double check with the store to make sure the doors aren’t locked when you arrive. Patch will update the hours as more trickle in.

  • Christmas Eve: Stores open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed

  • Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target).

  • Christmas Eve: Most stores typically close a few hours early
  • Christmas Day: All stores closed.
• The Fresh Market
  • Christmas Eve: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
• Mariano's
  • Christmas Eve: Stores will open at normal open time and close at 6 p.m.

  • Christmas Eve: Stores close at 7 p.m.
