Keller's Farmstand In Plainfield Is Permanently Closing: 'It's A Big Change For Us, Too'
The Plainfield Farmstand is closing "due to circumstances beyond our control," owners said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The season of Keller's Farmstand's Plainfield outpost has permanently come to a close, the business announced Monday.
The Farmstand, which opened at 15050 Wallin Drive in Plainfield in 1993, will shutter "due to circumstances beyond our control," owners said in a post on Facebook.
"It's a big change for us, too," they wrote.

In September 2023, the Plainfield Village Board voted 4-3 to annex 152.9 acres of land at the northwest corner of Lockport Street and Wallin Drive, belonging to family members of the owners of Keller's Farmstand, for Lennar Corporation to build a housing development called "Keller Farm."
Lennar approached the village in 2021 with a plan to construct 322 single-family detached houses, 83 townhouses in 18 buildings, a nine-acre commercial parcel, two parks, "extensive" walking trails and stormwater management areas, Patch reported.

The owners of Plainfield Farmstand, not Keller's Farmstand, decided "it was time to sell the land," according to the post. After "many years" on the market, it officially sold in 2024.
"Lennar, who now owns it, graciously invited us to reopen our market last summer," Keller's Farmstand wrote on Facebook. "At the end of May this year, Lennar informed us that it would not be possible to reopen it again."
The message continued: "We're grateful that we were able to use that farmstand for as long as we did. It has been a tremendous honor to serve the Plainfield communities with our fresh produce and sweet corn. We are not looking into another Plainfield location though."
Keller's Farmstand as a whole is not permanently closing, owners emphasized. Instead, the business will focus on its operations in Oswego, at 2500 Johnson Road, and Naperville, at 516 Knoch Knolls Road. Both will reopen in mid-July to sell produce and sweet corn.
"We hope our Plainfield customers will take the short drive west to the Oswego farm where our produce and sweet corn are grown," reads the post. "It's about 5-10 minutes, depending on if you have a lead foot! ... Johnson Road now connects with 143rd Street, making the short trip even easier."
The Oswego Farmstand is also home to a U-pick orchard and pumpkin patch as well as fall festivities.
According to Lennar's website, houses on Keller Farm are "actively selling." Three styles of structures — single-family homes, ranches and townhouses — are currently available, with the latter, dubbed "Amherst," available for $374,140.
