Plainfield Citizen's Police, Fire Academy Returns In April

Police Chief Robert Miller and Fire Chief Vito Bonomo lead the program, giving locals insights into emergency response and enforcement.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Locals interested in learning more about the duties of Plainfield police officers and firefighters will have the opportunity to by participating in the annual Plainfield Citizen's Police and Fire Academy.

The free 12-week program will begin April 1 and take place each Tuesday through June 24.

Led by Police Chief Robert Miller and Fire Chief Vito Bonomo, the program offers Plainfield residents and business owners the chance to learn about their local police and fire departments and their staff's duties. Held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday nights at various locations throughout Plainfield, classes will discuss topics including crime scene processing, vehicle extrication and emergency response.

Sessions, which will include both lecture and hands-on learning, will be taught by personnel from the police, fire and ambulance departments.

The class size is limited to 25 people, and registration closes at 5 p.m. March 25. Applications are available online or at the Plainfield Police Department, 14300 Coil Plus Drive, during regular business hours.
