Plainfield North Girls' Volleyball Team Wins 7th Consecutive Academic Award
The team posted a 4.92 GPA on a 5.0 scale, placing them "among the academic elite in the nation," district officials said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield North High School girls' varsity volleyball team won an award for its commitment to academics and athletics for the seventh consecutive year.
The Tigers earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 school year.
The award was established during the 1992–93 season to honor volleyball teams that maintain a year-long team GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). The team posted a 4.92 GPA on a 5.0 scale, placing them "among the academic elite in the nation," Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 said in a news release.

In addition to the award, the team was also one of 593 schools nationwide that made the AVCA Academic Honor Roll, reserved for the top 20 percent of team GPAs in the high school division.

"Earning this award shows how much they value being true student-athletes," PNHS Athletic Director George Sam said in a statement. "It's inspiring to see them set such a high standard for future teams. This recognition from the AVCA reflects the culture of excellence these players have built and how they support each other on and off the court."
