Plainfield Portillo's Will Be Company's 4th Pick-Up-Only Location
"Our pick-up only format has been an in-fill strategy for us to build out our existing markets," the company said Wednesday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Portillo's is opening its fourth pick-up-only location in Plainfield, the company announced Wednesday.
The Plainfield restaurant is redeveloping the former PNC Bank building near the corner of 135th Street and Route 59. The location will not have an indoor dining room. Instead, it will feature two drive-thru lanes and a pick-up area inside for orders, including those placed online or through delivery platforms.
Delivery and catering will also be available from the Plainfield Portillo's. Similar concepts operate in Joliet, Rosemont and Orland Park.

A Portillo's spokesperson said the company doesn't have an official opening date yet but will soon start hiring managers and shift leaders.
"We're excited to announce our fourth Portillo’s Pick-Up location in our home state of Illinois," Portillo's CEO Michael Osanloo said in a statement. "Our pick-up only format has been an in-fill strategy for us to build out our existing markets, delivering the authentic Portillo's experience our guests love, while meeting the growing demand for convenient, fast service. We can’t wait to bring this experience to residents of Plainfield."

The Village Board voted 5-1 last December to bring Portillo's to Plainfield, righting a historic wrong, as Mayor John Argoudelis previously told Patch.
To help with traffic flow in the area, the village is completely upgrading the intersection, including building dedicated right, left and through lanes in each direction, and signaled crosswalks. An additional traffic light might also be installed near the entrance to Jewel.
"There have been concerns about traffic with this development but as you will note we have taken some short term measures to improve traffic flow," Argoudelis wrote Thursday on Facebook. "Apart from that let's welcome Portillo’s to Plainfield as it represents the start of the retail transition in North Plainfield along Route 59!"
