Skateboarder Killed In Heggs Road Crash: Plainfield Police

It's the second fatal crash in four days in Plainfield.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A skateboarder was killed in a crash that occurred Monday morning on Heggs Road near 119th Street, the Plainfield Police Department said.

A preliminary investigation shows that a person was riding a skateboard and traveling south on Heggs Road when a gray 2020 Nissan Rogue, driving in the same direction, struck him, according to a news release from Plainfield police.

The male skateboarder was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Police did not reveal his identity, pending notification of his next of kin.

The Nissan driver was also transported to the Aurora hospital, but with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver is cooperating with the investigation, officials said. No citations or charges have been issued as of Monday afternoon.

Heggs Road was closed between 119th Street and 127th Street while officers investigated, police wrote in an alert published on Facebook at 6:45 a.m. Illinois State Police assisted with reconstructing the crash.

Monday morning's crash was the second fatal one within four days in Plainfield. A motorcycle driver was killed Friday after a car failed to yield the right of way in the intersection of 119th Street and Route 30, Patch reported.
