Students At 23 Plainfield Schools Will Get Free Meals For 2025-26 School Year

Every student at these schools is eligible for free breakfast and lunch this school year. No fees or applications are required.

PLAINFIELD, IL — During the 2025-26 school year, students at 23 Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 schools won't have to worry about eating breakfast at home or packing a lunch — the district will provide both every school day.

Students at Plainfield East High School, John F. Kennedy Middle School, and Liberty and Elizabeth Eichelberger elementary schools will receive the free meals through the United States Department of Agriculture's Community Eligibility Provision program.

District officials said these schools were already getting free meals:

  • Creekside Elementary School
  • Crystal Lawns Elementary School

  • Meadow View Elementary School
  • Ridge Elementary School
  • River View Elementary School
  • Thomas Jefferson Elementary School
  • Wesmere Elementary School
  • Aux Sable Middle School
  • Drauden Point Middle School

  • Plainfield High School-Central Campus
  • Plainfield South High School
  • Plainfield Academy

Free meals are not individualized, but elementary students will receive two choices, and middle and high schoolers will get at least three choices. Complete meals include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, meat or meat alternatives, and milk.

Students with allergies or dietary restrictions should review the menu and ingredients with their parents to know what items they should or shouldn't consume, district officials said.

Free breakfast and lunch will be offered every school day as long as District 202 and its food service contractor, Aramark, continue to comply with government standards, according to a news release.
