These Plainfield D202 Students Earn Commended Rank In National Merit Scholarship Program

The District 202 students are recognized among 34,000 others nationwide for their "exceptional academic promise," officials said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Seventeen seniors from all four Plainfield high schools were named "commended students" in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Although they will not continue in this year's competition for National Merit scholarships, the students are recognized among 34,000 others nationwide for their "exceptional academic promise," according to a news release from Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202.

Commended students rank among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.3 million students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
